Press Release: Girl Guides are Starstruck!

Girl Guides around Victoria will take part in the ABC’s stargazing world record attempt.

On 23 May 2018, hundreds of Girl Guides around Victoria will take part in a world record attempt for the most people stargazing at the same time across multiple locations. The event will be part of the ABC’s broadcast of Stargazing Live with Brian Cox, which aims to inspire the next generation of scientists and astronomers.

Girl Guides Victoria provides programs that encourage girls to get curious about the world and explore a wide variety of experiences and interests, from orienteering to STEM. The non-profit organization supports girls and women in leadership, as well as giving girls opportunities to make a difference in their community.

‘Girl Guides around the state will be looking to the skies as part of the ABC’s stargazing world record attempt,’ says Acting CEO Amanda Kelly. ‘Many Girl Guides are passionate about science and outer space, and are thrilled about participating in this fabulous event.’
