State Team Report 7 September 2018

Our wonderful State Team

Welcome to Spring, everyone! Time to cast off the chills of Winter and get back into the outdoors. Pitching tents, outdoor cooking, hiking, canoeing, orienteering, and whatever else we can think of. The list is endless and gets us out of the confines of our halls.

We spent a great weekend in August catching up with over 200 Guides and Leaders on our Sunflower Adventure. We visited the Guides in Chiltern for dinner and to play the State Team Game, and played the game over Skype with other Units. Some groups had spent the day together and others were coming together for a sleepover. Everyone seemed to be having a great time and there was lots of noise and laughter. Congratulations to the Wacky Warragul Girl Guides who spent the weekend doing the World Vision 40-hour Backpack Challenge. It was awesome to see your posts and I think all participants stepped outside their comfort zone.

Lynne attended Meg Riley’s Queen’s Guide Presentation in Sunbury. Meg has achieved a lot during her years in Guiding and has now achieved the Queen’s Guide Award – the peak award for youth. We congratulate Meg and all the other Guides out there that are completing/have completed their Queen’s Guide recently and are having presentations with family, friends, and peers. We look forward to seeing you at Government House in October.

Please make sure you check out all the great events that are on the calendar for the rest of the year. Jamborella, Lady Stradbroke Cup, Britannia Park’s 80th Birthday… and many more. We will be attending some of these events so please say “hello” when you see us. We hope to see you at your local events too.

Also keep an eye out for the Youth Snapshots in coming editions of Guiding News. Hear about other Guides’ adventures and what they enjoy about Girl Guides.

Until next time – enjoy the sunshine!

Lynne, Star, Sam & Mandy
