Girl Guides Australia Board – Girl Guides Victoria’s nominee position available

Girl Guides Victoria’s Executive Committee is the governing body of Girl Guides Victoria and its role is to set the strategic direction, develop policy, approve the annual budget, and oversee the governance of Girl Guides Victoria. The Committee has a similar function to that of a Board of Directors and its members are responsible for the fulfilment of duties and responsibilities similar to those of a director.

The GGV Executive Committee is currently seeking a volunteer to fill the ex-officio role of GGV’s nominee on the Girl Guides Australia Board. This role is required to sit on both the GGV Executive and GGA Board.

GGV Executive holds 10 meetings annually, at the GGV office in Melbourne. The GGA Board nominee is an ex-officio member of the GGV Executive and is expected to attend all meetings either in person or via video conference.

GGA holds six meetings annually: a face-to-face meeting each quarter, a special meeting in April to sign off the annual financial accounts, and a strategy day. All meetings are held at the GGA office in Sydney and the GGV nominee is required to attend in person. Travel costs are covered by the organisation. Interim teleconferences are also scheduled on an ad-hoc manner.

GGA Board Directors are required to be on at least one of the four Board Committees: Australian Guiding, Governance and People, Membership, or Finance and Risk. Each committee typically meets four times per annum.

To apply, please submit a CV along with a short expression of interest outlining your skills and motivation for volunteering in this role. Applications will be reviewed by the Governance Chair and Deputy Chair, then an appointment will be made by the Executive Committee.
