Doing Our Part

Girl Guides Victoria is committed to playing our part in protecting our friends, family and community from the health concerns posed by COVID-19.

At this time, we have chosen to suspend any in-person Guiding activities at the State and local levels, including events and Unit meetings. Following the advice of the Department of Health and Human Services, we believe this is the best way we can all do our part to protect one another.

As a reflection of the Guiding Spirit, we are putting the health and well-being of girls and volunteers, their families and the broader community, first.

While we will miss our highly anticipated State events and weekly meetings, we believe it is important to put our Girl Guides values into practice by caring for each other, for Australia and for the world.

Girl Guide Victoria activities that are suspended during this time include meetings, training, off-site activities, camps and State events. These are currently suspended until the beginning of Term 2 (14 April 2020). During this period, we will be closely monitoring the situation and this decision will then be re-assessed in line with public health advice.

This is our part to play in protecting the vulnerable members of our families and communities and minimising the risk to all while we work towards brighter days ahead.

Staying Connected

Girl Guides Victoria is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of a new online Girl Guide program!

The new online program will keep Girl Guides connected and engaged.

Girl Guides Victoria is moving online to bring Guides a brand new, virtual Guiding experience. Guides can look forward to connecting with friends and fellow Guides as well as Unit Leaders in a new online suite of programs.

We are creating a fun, secure and user-friendly online environment with child safety practice at its core. Victorian Girl Guides will be able to participate at home, school and from anywhere in Victoria! The program will keep your Guide stimulated and connected to their peers.

More information will be available shortly, with up-to-date announcements on our website, Facebook and Instagram pages. Make sure to follow Girl Guides Victoria for the latest news and information.

Office and Shop

The Joyce Price Centre in the Docklands, home to Girl Guides Victoria’s retail shop and office, will be closed from Tuesday 17 March until Monday 13 April 2020.

The Guide Shop will also be closed, including online sales. We have sent out all orders that were received before 3.00 pm Monday 16 March.

Our staff will continue to support volunteers and members and will be contactable through the main phone line.

We appreciate your understanding and support during this time and look forward to welcoming members back to their Units once it is safe to do so. We hope all our members and supporters stay healthy and well during this challenging time and join us in our excitement to explore a new online space for Girl Guides!
