16 of our Victorian Olaves came together on Saturday December 9 for the Olave End of Year Gathering, filling Hampton Guide Hall with chatter and laughter.
With fun activities including versing each other in Jenga and Connect 4, making friendship bracelets, and each Olave contributing their own little bit to the new Olave banner, the Gathering had an awesomely laid back energy.
One yummy BBQ lunch and a mocktail later (made by the consumer themselves!), and it was time for Speed Dating (or ‘Speed Meeting’) an Olave. By using the conversation prompts provided or simply going wherever the conversation led them, the Olaves learned plenty about the people they Guide with, and developed a deeper understanding of what makes their Olave/Guiding friends ‘them’.
Lou Pennington, Olave Committee member and Unit Leader at 5th Brighton Guides, sums up the Gathering wonderfully:
“The Olave Committee is so grateful to have a group of amazing Olaves throughout Victoria, and are looking forward to seeing everyone at the events planned for next year!”
A fitting end to a fabulous year!
