Summer Fun at the January School Holiday Program

Our 2024 Summer School Holiday Programs may have come and gone, but we won’t be forgetting all the fun we had in a hurry!

Girls aged 10-14 — both current Guides and non-members — spent a magical week in January engaging in outdoor and STEM-based activities, building up their autonomy and sense of responsibility, learning new skills, and of course, making new friends!

Our most recent Holiday Program for the summer, Outdoor Adventures, took place on January 22 to 23.

The very enthusiastic participants were dropped off in Mooroolbark each morning, before travelling with staff by bus to the wondrous Britannia Park near the Yarra Ranges. There, the girls enjoyed a full day each of high ropes adventures, learned essential survival skills, and conquered the thrilling Challenge Valley obstacle course.

STEM Adventures, held in Pascoe Vale from January 15 to 19, was the first of our two Holiday Programs for the summer.

Participants built and coded Vex IQ robots — including the friendly Gerald below — and took a trip to the Melbourne Zoo, where they learned all about animals through the captivating lens of STEM.

They also took a trip to indoor climbing gym Gravity Worx, where they challenged themselves and staying active scaling ultra-fun climbing walls; developing a deeper understanding of gravity in action while doing so.

Thank you to each and every participant, staff member, and establishment (whether zoo, campsite, indoor climbing gym, or otherwise!) for making our 2024 Summer School Holiday Program such a blast.
