Girl Guides Victoria member Isobel Cuthbert, from Kensington Guides, is currently experiencing an incredible international adventure as a seasonal volunteer at the Sangam World Centre in India. Serving during the Indian Monsoon Season, Isobel is making the most of her time at Sangam, one of the five World Centres of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).
“It’s going really well here,” Isobel shared. “I’m a program volunteer, so I have been running some sessions for the events that are happening. I am also helping out a lot with guest services, doing name tags, greeting people, sorting out rooming lists, things like that. The swaps have been a hit! Everyone is loving the Vegemites. I have also been swapping badges like mad.”
Isobel’s commitment and energy are clearly on full display at Sangam! It’s great to hear that she’s making a tangible impact there; wholeheartedly immersing herself in the vibrant community (which includes Guiding and non-Guiding guests from around the world) and dynamic culture that make up this World Centre. And she’s just getting started—her Sangam journey, which started in July, isn’t ending until November!
Isobel’s Sangam experience is just one example of the wealth of exciting and invaluable global international opportunities available to Girl Guides. From volunteering at a World Centre to participating in international events like the Essex Jamboree, the possibilities for global adventure and growth are endless when you’re a Guide.
