Girl Guides Dig Deep for a Greener Future

Over the last four weeks, Guides and Leaders from across Victoria have been rolling up their sleeves and making a positive impact on the environment in celebration of National Tree Day. It’s been great to see the Victorian Guiding community busy planting trees and contributing to their local communities in meaningful ways.

In Northern Bendigo, Guides teamed up with their leaders, parents, Scouts, and Northern Bendigo Landcare to plant 400 native shrubs and grasses at the Huntly Streamside Reserve.

Euroa Girl Guides transformed the area around their Guide Hall with trees generously donated by the Euroa Arboretum.

Plenty Girl Guides joined forces with the Diamond Creek community, taking part in an impressive tree-planting effort that saw 1,000 trees added to the area. Their  efforts have helped boost local biodiversity and strengthen the area’s green spaces for future generations.

Sale Girl Guides lent a helping hand during a tree planting day organised by the Wellington Shire Council, actively contributing to their community’s environmental restoration efforts.

Through these activities, our Girl Guides and Leaders are not only helping to preserve and restore natural habitats across Victoria, but also learning valuable lessons in teamwork, responsibility, and the importance of caring for our planet. We are incredibly proud of their contributions and look forward to seeing the long-lasting impact of their efforts. BRAVO to all who participated!

While Planet Ark’s National Tree Day officially falls on the last Sunday in July, every day can be National Tree Day, and Victorians are encouraged to host their own planting at any time of the year. Click here to learn more.
