In this session, we’ll explore resources from the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), related to the 2025 World Thinking Day theme ‘Our Story’, and celebrate the legacy of our founders.

💡 26 February: Guide-Led
As one of three special meetings this term where Girl Guides take the lead, this is your Guide’s chance to:
- Plan and run an activity for the Unit
- Teach a game you enjoy or share a creative idea
- Showcase something they’ve been working on for a Look Wide, Aim High, or Look Wider Still badge—or from a Guiding Handbook
There are a wide variety of Create a Challenge diamond badges, Explore a Challenge half-moon badges, Discover a Challenge gemstone badges, and plenty more to earn!
♻️ 5 March: Clean Up Australia Day
This session is inspired by Clean Up Australia Day, an annual event that encourages everyone to take action for a cleaner environment. We’ll explore:
- The impacts of littering on our planet and wildlife
- What single-use plastics are and how to reduce them
- Simple swaps like reusable cups, bottles, and straws
Join us to learn how to safely take action in your community with an ‘Emu Bob’—a fun and effective way to clean up while protecting native animals.
This national day is a great opportunity to earn the Girl Guides Australia Clean Up badge, which can be displayed on our uniform sashes. Guides’ efforts will also count towards the Service Flash badge!
💡 12 March: Guide-Led
This is the second of three special Guide-Led meetings this term! Girls are invited to plan and run an activity or game for the Unit. Badge presentations are also welcome, especially if they’ve been earning a Create, Explore, Discover or Achieve badge at home.
These Guide-Led sessions follow the Australian Guide Program, allowing girls to try their best at a challenge, learn something new, and have fun! How will your Guide lead the way this time?
🐾 19 March: Animals & Pets
Girl Guides asked for an animal-themed session, and here it is! Whether your Guide likes dogs, cats, butterflies or all animals, they’ll learn something new tonight!
During this session, Guides are invited to:
- Share their favorite book, movie, or show about animals
- Introduce their pets at home to the group
- Discover campfire songs with animal themes
- Get creative with animal-shaped foods

Want to take this interest further? Guides can work towards the Create a Challenge – Animal Tracks, Create a Challenge – Pets, or Service Flash badge!
💡 26 March: Guide-Led
For our third special meeting this term, Girl Guides are running the show! They’ll:
- Discover, Decide, and Plan the entire meeting
- Try something new—maybe a campfire song, a creative project, or a community service idea
- Build confidence, communication skills, and time management—all while having fun!
What will the Unit come up with this time? Join us to find out!
🚀 2 April: Drones & Space
As requested by the Girl Guides, this session is all about Drones & Space! We’ll learn what drones are, how they work, the regulations that apply to flying them, and whether Guides can make their own from a kit.
Join us to hear and see how drones are flown and discover if this could be your Guides’ next big hobby! This session could be the perfect starting point for earning the Create a Challenge – Air or Create a Challenge – Computer badge!
Please note: themes are subject to change, based on participating Girl Guides’ preferences

The evolution of GO Girls
GO Girls has a rich history, evolving from the Lones Guiding program, which originally supported isolated members through written correspondence via postal mail.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for virtual connection grew. Girl Guides Victoria responded by launching Friday Night Guides, a weekly online program that later became Guides Online—and eventually, GO Girls.
Today, GO Girls continues to provide a fun, inclusive, and accessible Guiding experience for members across Victoria.
