Girls across Victoria are invited to join the Girl Guides Victoria program.
To get started, visit our Find A Unit online locator to enquire about your child trialling the Girl Guide program in your local area. Be sure to check that the day of the Unit meetings is suitable for your family, and the Unit meets the age needs of your child. Your enquiry will be sent to the Unit Leader to confirm current availability. We offer prospective Guides the opportunity to experience the Guiding program firsthand, for up to 3 meetings before joining!
We even have an online Guiding program, called Go Girls, which is delivered virtually for those in remote areas, with transportation issues, medical concerns or on a waitlist for an in-person Unit.
The final step in your child becoming a Girl Guide is via Youth Registration. You can join at any time through the Member Portal to begin a journey of discovery and fun, in an environment tailored to Girls, and led by Girls.
Girls can join Girl Guides from 5 years old. Girls aged between 5-17 can join Girl Guides and take part in the Guide Program. Guide Unit age ranges vary, so make sure to check your local Unit/s for ages.
The fun doesn’t stop just because you become an adult! Our extraordinary Leaders are adult members aged 18 and over. Adult members can also join peer groups such as the Olave Program for women 18-29 and Trefoil Guilds.
Girl Guide Units meet once per week on weekdays, after school and in the evenings during school terms. Guides also have the option to take part in different camps, excursions and adventure activities. We also offer a school holiday program filled with fun and adventure in a great range of locations throughout the year.
Guides are required to wear a Girl Guides Polo Shirt and any navy bottoms. A sash is worn to display the badges the Guide has achieved. Additional optional items such as hoodies, fleeces, and hats are also available.
For more information and to purchase the uniform, please visit the Guide Shop.
Yes, we LOVE camping! Your Guide will have the opportunity to attend camps at the Local, District, Regional, State or National level. Guides 14 years or older also have the opportunity to attend international camps.
Yes! After completing your Enquiry we will connect you with your local Unit, and your child can attend up to three (3) trial sessions before making the decision to join. These trial sessions are included in the fees and are not charged if your child decides not to join Girl Guides.
Girl Guides Victoria places the utmost importance on the the safety and well-being of all children and young people. We strictly adhere to the Victorian Child Safe Standards, implementing comprehensive policies and practices to ensure a secure environment.
We conduct thorough background checks, provide regular child protection training, and have clear reporting procedures for any concerns. Our programs empower children and young people, ensuring they feel safe and supported. Read more about our commitment to safeguarding.
The Guide Promise and Law are core principles of Girl Guiding, encouraging the development of the whole person, including spiritual, moral, physical, mental, social, intellectual and emotional aspects.
In Australia, all members make the same Promise, which is a personal commitment. Guide Leaders help Guides understand and appreciate this commitment.
When a Guide is ready, she makes her Promise in a special ceremony, reflecting on her commitment with others. Each Unit may have its own traditions for this event.
We know life doesn’t always run smoothly and we all need a little help from time to time. Girl Guides Victoria provides financial hardship support by application through the Blackburn Bursary Fund. We are a registered provider with the Get Active Kids Voucher Program.
Women across Victoria are invited to join the Girl Guides Victoria as Adult Members, Volunteers and Leaders, becoming role models to girls across our State.
You can also join specific peer groups that support the Guiding Program and have fun along the way, such as Olaves (for 18-29yr olds), Trefoil Guild Members (for anyone over 18+ with a passion for supporting girls with volunteerism, mentorship and fundraising) and Associate Members for those who want to contribute skills in other ways but not directly in contact with the girls. If you’re interested in these opportunities select them in the Join Now navigation.
