Why we wear a Uniform
Wearing a uniform is a Guiding tradition and gives our Guides and adult members a sense of belonging and pride. It helps to bring people together as an inclusive community and promote Guiding to others. Our Australian Guiding uniform was designed in consultation with Girl Guides and is suitable for all occasions, from Promise Ceremonies to camping trips!
At the Guide Shop, we have everything you need to get started! We have polos, fleece jackets and hoodies, as well as hats and caps to keep your head sun-smart and cozy beanies to keep your head warm in the chillier months!
Uniform Requirements
All Units require Guides and adult members to wear a polo shirt or formal shirt to Unit meetings. Additional optional items such as sashes, hoodies, fleeces, and hats are also available. You can wear navy bottoms of your choice including leggings, shorts, skirts and dark blue jeans, with suitable closed-toe shoes.

Uniform Size Guide
The Girl Guides Uniform is quite fitted, and some people prefer to upsize, especially for outdoor activities. Some items, like the hoodie and fleece, are more generously sized. We generally recommend choosing a polo shirt size that is two sizes larger than your usual streetwear clothing size. So if you take a size 12 polo in your every day clothing, we suggest opting for a size 16 polo when ordering Guide Uniform.
You can find detailed sizing and measurement information over at the Guide Shop.
Badges
Badges and awards are a key part of Guiding and hold a central place in the history and heart of Guiding. They recognise new activities, themes and skill development.
Badges are girl-choice, meaning Guides can work on them during Unit meetings, within their Patrols, or at home. Some may choose not to pursue badges and simply enjoy the experiences Guiding offers. Our badges are bright and cheerful and look fantastic on any Guide sash.
We have three youth awards on offer, the Junior BP Award, the BP Award and the Queen’s Guide Award, which is the highest achievement and marked by the Gold Endeavour.
Swap badges
are more informal and lots of fun! Guides often swap badges to remember events, camps, special occasions and activities. These badges not only celebrate individual accomplishments and experiences but also foster a sense of community and shared experience. Many Guides sew their swap badges onto their Guiding blankets as a way to remember and celebrate their Guiding journey.
