Exploring, Creating, Guiding: A School Holiday Program to Remember

Over the Autumn school holidays, girls from across Victoria —  both current Guides and new faces — gathered at the Mooroolbark and Glen Waverley Guide Halls for our School Holiday Programs. With every activity — cuddling rescue pets, solving puzzles, setting up camps and more — participants gained confidence, connected with peers, and got a real taste of everything that Guiding has to offer.

🐾 Wildlife Wonders at Mooroolbark

On Monday 7 April, our Mooroolbark program kicked off with a pawsome day of learning about animal care and rescue! Participants aged 9-14 created emergency roadside wildlife rescue kits, found out how to help injured animals, and even got to cuddle some adorable shelter pets. We can’t forget Francois and Zoe – the two feline VIPs who visited from Forever Friends Animal Rescue and stole everyone’s hearts!

🏕️ Campsite Creations and Campfire Treats

At Glen Waverley on Tuesday 8 April, participants aged 7-12 embraced their inner adventurers at our Camp for a Day holiday program. They pitched tents, built shelters, created their own paints from natural materials, and gathered around the campfire to roast marshmallows. A great day of camping, the Girl Guides way!

🐰 An Eggs-cellent Heist at Mooroolbark

The holidays ended on a high note of mystery, teamwork, and chocolate during The Great Bunny Heist program at Mooroolbark on Wednesday 16 April. Participants became junior agents in the Incredibly Smart Bunny Investigation Unit (ISBI), racing against the clock to solve puzzles and track down the missing Easter eggs. With teamwork and giggles, the case was cracked wide open – and the chocolate saved!

Our Holiday Programs offer so much more than just a day of fun – they offer a practical and enriching gateway into the wonderful world of Guiding.

Girls get the chance to challenge themselves, learn new skills, and discover the joy of friendship and adventure – all while exploring what it means to be part of the Guiding community. For many participants, our holiday programs are the beginning of an exciting new journey with Girl Guides Victoria!

We can’t wait to see where the next adventure will take us!Thank you to all the girls, families, staff, and volunteers who made our Autumn programs so special. We’ll see you again soon for even more fun, friendship, and adventure!
