Every month, we like to shine a spotlight on one of our amazing Victorian Girl Guides.
This month we caught up with Charlotte, an energetic and imaginative 8-year-old from Sale Rainbow Guides.
Charlotte’s two and a half years as a Girl Guide has been a whirlwind of fun, learning and a blossoming interest in animals. Read on to hear about Charlotte’s favourite moments, the role of Guiding in nurturing her love for animals great and small, and the one thing she believes would make the world a better place.
What do you love most about Girl Guides?
I love to learn new things while earning badges. One of my favourites was learning about animal tracks while earning the animal badge.
What’s your favourite thing to do when you’re not at Guides?
My favourite thing to do when not at Guides is to play outside on the swing set at home with friends.
If you could plan a special day for Girl Guides, what would you do?
My dogs are very special to me. I would have an ‘Everybody Bring Your Pet’ day. I think it would be really [wacky] and fun.
If you could have any animal as a pet (even a magical one!), what would it be and why?
I would like a horse, they are one of my favourite animals. I am interested in learning to ride, I think it would be really fun.
What’s your favourite book or story, and why do you love it?
My favourite books are the Bad Guys series. I like how they solve problems and the adventures they have. Mr Wolf is my favourite character because he never gives up and he is very funny.
What’s something new you’ve learned since becoming a Guide that makes you really proud?
I have become more confident and find it easy to make new friends at Guides and outside of Guides.
What’s your favourite thing to do outside, and why do you enjoy it?
I like running around in the back garden while playing with my dogs Bruce and Keith. I also like to ride my scooter on our street, I love going fast.
If you could make one rule that everyone in the world had to follow, what would it be?
Kindness. I would make everyone be kind so the world would be friendlier.
