National Tree Day, held annually in July, inspires communities across Australia to come together in a shared mission to care for our planet, and strengthen our connection to the natural world.
By working together planting native trees, shrubs, and grasses, volunteers contribute to vital restoration efforts in their local neighbourhoods, helping to rebuild ecosystems, increase biodiversity, and protect habitats for Australia’s unique wildlife.
Community service and caring for the environment are central to Girl Guiding. This year, Girl Guides across Victoria are participating in local tree planting initiatives, putting their Guiding values into practice. From city parks to regional landscapes, Guides, Leaders, Helpers and Guiding families of all ages are rolling up their sleeves to nurture healthy environments and foster lasting community connections.
These planting days are more than an environmental contribution or a simple act of service. They are moments of learning, teamwork, growth, community connection – and also lots of messy fun!
National Tree Day is an annual reminder that even small actions can have an incredible, lasting impact. Through every planting, Girl Guides are helping shape a greener, stronger, and healthier future for generations to come.
