Last year, Mount Waverley Olaves from the Kiama Rangers Peer Group packed 40 bags for Share the Dignity’s It’s in the Bag Christmas drive, providing period products and essentials to women experiencing domestic violence and homelessness. This was completed with the support of item donations from Girl Guide units across the Monash District as well as funds raised from their Trivia Night in November. Kiama’s involvement helped GGA reach their goal of Girl Guides nationally contributing 600 bags.
On Sunday 25th May, Zoe De Paola, who led Kiama’s It’s in the Bag efforts, was invited to speak at Share the Dignity’s high tea fundraiser about her experience of organising a packing party and why Girl Guides are committed to supporting It’s in the Bag. Zoe participated in an onstage Q&A with Share the Dignity founder and managing director Rochelle Courtenay. DigniTea is held by Share the Dignity in multiple locations during May each year.
Fellow Kiama Rangers Olaves Maddy, Lucy and Evie attended alongside Zoe. Maddy (Chair) and Lucy (Deputy Chair) were instrumental in the organisation of the Trivia Night and were also involved in the packing party.
Congratulations Zoe, Maddy and Lucy and everyone at Kiama Rangers!
