July State Commissioner Update

Welcome back to Term 3! The past few weeks have certainly been busy, with many opportunities to celebrate, connect and represent Guiding across Victoria.

I had the privilege of representing Guiding at the funeral of Kathie Hutchins, a former Assistant State Commissioner, to honour her significant contribution to our movement.

It was wonderful to visit the Docklands Unit and present Brittany Parkes with a Good Service Award in recognition of her dedication and commitment.

I also presented at the Trefoil AGM, sharing highlights from my recent trip to Cambodia, where the World Conference was held. It was a fantastic opportunity to reflect on the experience and the connections made with Guiding members from around the world.

I was delighted to celebrate two significant Gang Show milestones: 60 years of Melbourne Gang Show and 50 years of Sunraysia Gang Show. Sharing these special, emotional evenings with Guiding members involved in the casts and crews was a wonderful reminder of the friendships and opportunities Guiding provides.

I also attended the Board Strategy Planning Day, where we focused on planning for our organisation’s future.

Last weekend, I joined 54 Guides and 11 Leaders from across the state at Snoozarella at Urban Camp. The girls had an amazing time taking part in a two-hour circus skills workshop, enjoying games, and finishing the day with a movie night. On Sunday, I joined Merri-bek District for their Tree Planting Day at Coburg Lake, another great example of Guiding making a positive contribution to the community.

Looking ahead, I am excited for another busy few weeks with the STEM Workshop, Camberwell Show, Multicultural Gala Dinner, Chiltern Guides 70th Birthday celebrations & Trefoil’s 40th Birthday Party, and WEGGSS Trefoil gathering.

Thank you to everyone who continues to give their time, enthusiasm and dedication to creating incredible opportunities for our members. I look forward to seeing many of you at these upcoming events.

Pam Woodhams
State Commissioner
