Celebrating World Thinking Day 2024

On Thursday 22 February we celebrated World Thinking Day.

Celebrated since 1926, World Thinking Day is a day of international friendship and solidarity. It provides Girl Guides around the world with the opportunity to speak out on, and learn about, issues that affect girls and young women around the world.

Girl Guides Victoria is proud to be part of an amazing international community – the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) community – which spans 5 global regions, 153 countries, and 8.8 million members.

This year, Victorian Guides, Units and Regions chose to celebrate World Thinking Day in a myriad of fun ways at the local level. Some embraced the 2022-2024 WTD theme, Our World, Our Thriving Future, while others centred their celebrations around the history and global impact of Guiding.

At a state level, Girl Guides Victoria celebrated the international day by reflecting on the powerful, wide-reaching impact of the global Guiding movement. Our presence in the WAGGGS community means the dedication and spirit extended towards Guiding by our members and volunteers ripple outward, creating positive change not only amongst Victorian girls and young women, but worldwide.
